We have been bringing our dog to Small Door since he was 8 weeks old. We love that they hosted puppy play dates for unvaccinated puppies to help them socialize. It was a huge part of making sure our pup developed good social skills. I know that if I email Small Door I will be sure to get a response ASAP guiding us on the best path forward. When we walk to the vet, our dog even starts to drag me as we get close to Small Door because he loves coming there so much - everyone is so great that works there!

Our puppy Snickers has been a Small Door member for 7 months now since we got him at 2 months old. We are so happy we found Small Door and have nothing but great things to say!!!Service is A++ all around! With a new puppy, we’ve had many questions and concerns come up. It’s so easy to ask any questions over the app/email, and the staffs are always really responsive no matter the time of the day and check in to make sure everything’s okay. It really gives us the peace of mind.The facilities are very nice and clean, and the doctors/nurses are always professional and thorough during visits. They also offer regular playgroups for puppies that are not fully vaccinated, which was super helpful in getting Snickers socialized.Snickers is now a very social, healthy, and happy dog, and loves playing with friends!

I switched to Small Door Vet from a different vet and so happy I did! They’re so worth my travel from Brooklyn to the city. My chocolate lab loves all the employees and loves going there. We have always gotten what we need and they always made him feel comfortable. I want the best for my pup so I always contact them about any concerns and they always find the next available appointment. They make you feel so comfortable and heard any time you go to them. They treat the animals with so much love and care and they’re so patient with pet parents. They answer all the questions you have. They also give you all the information you need in your case and will email you links to whatever they recommend you. They email you all of your invoices and all the information you covered during your visit. They’re extremely organized and efficient. They are super transparent and will discuss all of your options in your personal case and they are never judging you. At the end of the day, after discussing all of your options, you can decide what you feel is best for your pet. Besides all of this, the most important is the care they give to your pet and it is top notch. They give everything your pet needs in health care. Also every time I pass by there, I always see dogs pulling towards their door so even the dogs approve! Since I’ve been with them, they have expanded and have multiple new locations which makes it so much easier for people traveling from different parts of the city.

I came to Small Door seeking a second opinion. My dog (Manny) had suffered with chronic GI issues for years. The vet prior could never pinpoint what the issue was (I was told he had polyps, then was told it was anxiety related, then was told it was his food, etc. etc). Small door recommended we do an ultrasound and blood work. The ultrasound immediately revealed that something was wrong, and shortly after we learnt that Manny had lymphoma of the GI tract. In between my sobs, Dr. Jamie Richardson sat on the phone with me for over an hour and answered each and everyone of my questions.Unfortunately, there is no cure for Lymphoma, but Small Door made sure Manny remained comfortable throughout his entire diagnosis. A phone call never went unanswered, an email never went unread (and trust me there were many) throughout our entire time with them.On Mannys last day, Dr. Jamie personally called me (after business hours, on just a few minutes notice) to talk me through the next steps. Its not often that you find a veterinary practice that is not only extremely competent and knowledgeable, but also genuinely invested in your dogs well being.I am certain that Manny would not have lived for as long and as comfortable as he did without the support from Dr. Richardson and her team. I am forever grateful.Thanks again, Small Door.

Love the medical team at Small Door-- they are always so professional, responsive, and genuinely care about your pets. I love how I can get professional advice & book appts on the app right away - so much more convenient than traditional veterinaries. The doctors will also call you days after your visits just to check in on your dog. My dog Jojo loves going there! Clean, aesthetically pleasing, many treats (and beverages for humans) ... Heard they're expanding too, so I really hope they can open a new branch in Midtown!That being said, there's still room for improvements. Since we have the Premium Plus plan (plus all the extra fees), it's definitely on the more expensive side, & not sure if we make the most out of it. Esp because of covid, we couldn't go in more often or attend any events. Also, some front desk staff at the west village location aren't the most helpful and attentive ones; they seem rather cold and slow at times.Overall, if you just got a new dog, you're in the right hands! Small door still beats most veterinaries out there. Would still recommend! And huge congrats on the expansion!

My puppy Bear has been a Small Door member for over a year and we only have good things to say! As a first time dog owner I needed a vet where I could get emergencies taken care of quickly with professionalism and genuine compassion. Small Door has been SO reliable each time something has come up. Every time we’ve been able to get a same day appointment.Their office staff is welcoming and knowledgeable each time I call in with a question. Also, the fact that they submit our insurance claims directly to our insurer is a huge plus. Would recommend Small Door to any new pet owner!

Have had such a great experience with Small Door so far! I got a puppy about 2 months ago and did extensive research on vets. I was hesitant to go with a membership based vet, so I went to another animal hospital in my area. After my first visit with this other vet, I felt like they were not hearing my concerns with my puppy - primarily regarding vaccinations. I decided to give Small Door a try. My initial visit was fantastic! They spent an entire hour going through everything you need to know about puppyhood, and addressed any/all concerns I had. I found out about their puppy socialization classes also which are awesome and they need to advertise more to potential clients! I was looking at other puppy classes that would have cost hundreds, so that being included in the membership was a great benefit. Highly recommend Small Door based on my experience so far! :)

OBSSESSED IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. Being a first time dog mom, when I first brought my puppy home I was a nervous wreck! Their app allows you 24/7 access to speak with a member of their team! Small Door literally spent hours with me on their app texting at 4 a.m., connecting me directly with a nurse, talking me off the ledge. They are so professional and understanding of first time dog owner nerves!Now the actual practice is absolutely stunning. No weird doctor vibes whatsoever. It looks like a chic cafe! My puppy loves going in and seeing everyone. We are always greeted so warmly!Appointment times are constantly available and they are always accommodating for any last minute appointment needs.I've recommended two friends and I will continue to praise Small Door every opportunity I get!

I joined and went for the first time today. They worked really hard to get me in since my dog wasn't feeling well and I was taken right away. The doctor and nurse explained everything... really thorough and wonderful. I'm recommending this place to everyone.

When looking for a vet for the first time, we realized the best certifications to look for are AAHA and Fear Free. Small door vet is the only vet I could find in nyc that has both. They go the extra mile for all their pets, and Mia has absolutely no fear going there. In fact, she loves going to the vet. Everyone there is so nice, and it's amazing for the pawrents too. Gorgeous, luxurious spaces that make you feel safe and at home. Plus their memberships really do help save so much money!! Highly recommend.

***** AMAZING ***** Mistakenly made a morning appointment for the wrong day for my dog with an infection. The entire staff (reception, medical assistants and doctor) could not have been nicer or more accommodating. They were able to find room in their busy calendar to evaluate and care for Elsa. The entire experience was completely different than any other NYC veterinarian visit. Clean, friendly, caring, professional and amazing communications!!!! I would highly recommend Small Door without hesitation. Thanks again! ????

The staff was not willing to answer questions very much

I called them this morning. Because my cat seems experienced something. Not active, decreased appetite from yesterday. The reception help me make an appointment immediately. The vet and nurse were very professional and nice person. Took a exam carefully and answer many questions to us. Also let our picky cat try some food. I already recommend to my friend and will return for next visit.

Love Small Door! Dr. Richardson and Dr. Bishop are the best. We been going for over a year now and we couldn’t be happier. Give them a try!

Absolutely amazing experience today. I was so excited to join the small vet family based on so many great reviews and they did not disappoint. The staff and doctors are extremely friendly. The space is immaculate and massive, it was a nice change from a cramped waiting room. The entire appointment was so relaxing and informative. I’m very excited my dog Lucas will now be in such wonderful hands. Thank you everyone at Small Vet for such an amazing first time experience!

We joined Small Door when our pup came home about 6 months ago. We’ve been consistently impressed with Dr. Richardson and Dr. Bishop, the nurses and the rest of the team there. From coordinating puppy playgroups, quickly responding to text messages and emails for emergencies and non-emergencies, being super communicative about what is and is not covered under their plans, and sending detailed care instructions for our dog after visits, this is really all you could ask for in a vet. The gorgeous offices are a perk that I look forward to stepping foot in post covid!

The vet at my first visit was super patient, friendly, and answered all of my questions thoroughly. Then in my follow up chats on the app, they answered everything quickly and thoroughly, which helped ease my incredibly tense cat dad energy. Love these guys!

First of all, let me just start off by saying I absolutely love this place and adore all the staff members! Being a first time dog mom, I’m extremely nervous when it comes to health concerns about my pup. Their 24/7 chat eases my anxiety 101%! Even if I send a message over at 4AM someone is always available to help out. Appointment times are constantly available, which gives me a peace of mind. I love how descriptive the docs are when my fur baby is in there with them, especially now because we aren’t allowed in due to covid. Overall, this place has trust worthy staff that are without a doubt the best of the best. Also, considering that this is a member based vet, it’s nice to see regulars when I bring my pup in for check ups. They also have complimentary events such as puppy socialization groups that helped me out a ton when my puppy first came home and couldn’t go outside to socialize at parks. 10/10 would recommend going here !!! Once you come here you’ll never go anywhere else !

I have probably tried out almost every animal clinic in Manhattan and with small door I finally found the most amazing practice. The staff is super friendly and very reliable and the vets are always caring, honest, and would never rip you off money wise!What I also loved is that when my dachshund has an accident and was suffering from back issues, they referred me to an incredible specialist who was able to heal my dog fully.I will never go anywhere else and always recommend small door to my friends!

Over the past couple years, I've taken many of my foster dogs to Small Door, as well as other vet clinics in the area. But when it was finally time for me to adopt my own dog, there was no question that she would be a Small Door dog! The staff has always shown me and all my pups the utmost consideration, going above and beyond to give them the most caring and thoughtful medical attention a dog mom could want. The app is a godsend and I can access everything (and everyone) I need during these very precarious puppy months! And I can't wait for their gorgeous, comfy and spacious interior space to open back up post-covid! My puppy gets SO EXCITED to go to the vet... that's nuts!

Everyone at Small Door has been incredibly friendly, kind, and professional. I feel confident that my dog is getting the best possible care. He clearly loves it as he forgets his leash manners and tries to drag me to the door whenever we walk past (photo below :) ha). It is also amazing that they offer puppy socialization play groups as part of the membership. While a vet membership wasn't something I was initially familiar with, and therefore comfortable with, I can now clearly see the benefits and value to this model. I would highly recommend this vet!

I can’t say enough good things about Small Door. The team takes a real interest in the overall health and well-being of my dogs—the intake appointment lasted almost an hour as Dr. Jamie took the time to really learn about the health, habits, and personality of my dog. My experience with other vets has been rushed and impersonal—a quick check up and administration of a medication. Not Small Door! Also, because of Small Door’s transparent pricing approach, I never feel like I am being sold something my dog doesn’t need or taken advantage of.

Amazing people and place. Knew exactly what to do with my dog who had a lot of anxiety took amazing care of him. Most definitely loved them.

Small door in Chelsea is such an amazing place. We were quickly welcomed (even during the Covid-19) by Nick and Dr. Bishop. Dr. Bishop was patient and asked all the right questions. After my dogs visit we felt satisfied (my dogs came in with red eyes and a small lump on her chest which was aspirated by the doc).The prices are also reasonable and they file your insurance claims for you. We had an amazing experience taking our new pup Jack to Small Door for his puppy visits. Dr. Seth was very friendly, thorough, knowledgeable and professional, and made Jack (and my husband and me) feel very comfortable. There was no rushing through anything - we got not only the necessary physical boxes checked but also recommendations and tips on food, activities, behaviors, dealing with biting and teething etc. over the course of a full hour, as well as an email with detailed notes summarizing each visit. The facility is very impressive, better than most human doctors’ offices! The staff is very responsive via email or the app. And they even gifted Jack with a little goody bag and “carrot” toy. We feel lucky to have found them and would highly recommend!

Can I give 6 stars? Small Door is just perfect! First time puppy owners and new to NYC we instantly felt part of a community, even during the pandemic. Yappy hour zoom calls to introduce us to other puppy owners, trusted 24/7 online support when we were not sure what to do with a vomiting puppy (!) and staff and vets that care for you and your pup like you are friends and family. The fact you know there are no hidden costs by paying a monthly fee just feels like the cherry on top. Simply a first class experience!
