মা থেকে শিশুতে সংক্রমণ প্রতিরোধে যুগান্তকারী সাফল্য অর্জন করেছে মালদ্বীপ। বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থা (ডব্লিউএইচও) দেশটিকে এইচআইভি, সিফিলিস ও হেপাটাইটিস বি-এই তিনটি রোগের মা থেকে শিশুতে সংক্রমণ নির্মূলের স্বীকৃতি দিয়েছে। এর ফলে মালদ্বীপই বিশ্বের প্রথম দেশ হিসেবে ‘ট্রিপল এলিমিনেশন’ অর্জন করল। আজ সোমবার (১৩ অক্টোবর) ডব্লিউএইচও এক সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে এ স্বিকৃতি দেয় মালদ্বীপকে।.
