My cat Luka was unwell for a couple of days. I was very worried about her health. She is 17 years old and has never been sick before. I tried to book an emergency appointment in many clinics near to and around me but everywhere was fully booked and the earliest someone could see her was 4 days later. My friend advised me to call the clinic in Belsize Park. I got an appointment the same day. From when we arrived I can say that all the staff were very friendly and helpful from reception to the vets. The vet checked my cat and we discussed the suggested treatment for her. The experience was very different to what I’ve read in people’s reviews for other vet clinics where they’re often just trying to get mme take as much money as possible. they trying to make money. The vet was super helpful and friendly and my cat ended up staying at the clinic overnight. The next morning I received a call and was asked if I would agree for them to do a blood test for my cat. I arrived to collect my cat at lunch time. The vet gave me some medicine for my cat to take at home and I have to say she is doing very well now. Village Vet are extremely professional, with the most amazing staff! I am very glad I registered my cat with this clinic. Will recommend to everyone. And will definitely go back there if my cat has any problems - it was a scary time when I thought my cat was really unwell and I couldn’t get her seen by anyone urgently so I’m really thankful to Village Vet for finding a time to see me and for helping me.Big thank you to Vet Alison And Vet Allard from Luka Read Less

The most incompetent organisation I have ever come across in my entire life! All they care about is money! They make you pay for the most expensive tests and then you never even hear from them regarding the tests results whilst you are worrying sick about your pet! They couldn’t care less! Their vets are always too busy to give you a call to explain a plan of action or explain you the results of the tests they charged you loads of money for! When they do call you back, is to give you the wrong diagnostic! Such a shame that I trusted them so much and left the health my of precious pets in their incompetent hands! Read Less

Brought my dog Usher in a critical condition. The vet told us they would do their best to keep him in a stable condition and ensured they would keep us up to date throughout the night. This was of course after they told us the bill estimate would be £2000 for a night (which we agreed to hoping Usher would get better)....throughout the night , no news, no phonecalls ... I had to call 3 or 4 times to have some news as we were completely kept in the dark on what he had. The day after Usher reached a stable condition however still in a bad shape (stomach obstruction). Again, after we decided to call the vet as we didn't have any news, we have been told he would need surgery that would cost £5500 without any insurance that it would be successful. Basically the bill went higher and higher as the hours passed. We couldn't afford the bill in excess of £2000 and no other alternatives were proposed other than letting him die. Very sad to see that something could have been done but didn't because of ... Money basically. This hospital may have competent vets but doesn't miss any opportunity to raise the bill. Very money oriented and not interested in helping or saving lives. In the end...we lost our beloved dog he was very healthy and only 4 years old. May he rest in peace. Very very sad story that could have been avoided if we chose a different hospital. Read Less

Questions/1. Overcharged2.didnt ask my permission to do heart scan.3.unnecessary heart scan 4. Anti vomit drug but my dog is not vomit at all My dog was 15.5 years old . I found that she didn’t wants to eat dinner , and because of her dental problem is an issue. She is too old to do professional teeth cleaning. And I looked at her gum was really red looks like inflamed.so I took her in the vet next day.Vet Jamie was kindly welcoming us.But after I told him that my dog didn’t want to eat dinner. But in the morning I cooked sod eggs she ate it. And her gum was really red and redness. I thought she might need some medicine for oral information. Her teeth might be painful cause I fed her some dry food the day before. But Vet Jamie started to concern about her heart. And kept the suspicion of her heart mur mur related to my dog losing appetite. And instead of looking carefully into her mouth and teeth. He only try to open my dog’s mouth once and not even look into her gum. Then started to suggesting is do a blood test. Urin test and heart scan.I said my dog had CT scan and MRI 1 month ago and Vet at RVC all said her heart is fine. But he still thinks we should do a heart scan.Said if he had time he could do he scan.I asked about if we can just do blood test. And what does that mean “if he had time to scan he could”I asked : oh so do you really think you have time? He took my do away and then said, I’ll find out and let you know.So I waited outside at reception. Then no one told me anything. Then I waited next door at a cafe. After a while the Reception called me. Said my dog had the heart scan done.I thought .....what? I didn’t really say yes to the heart scan. While I was still confusing. I went back to the vet waited another hour. Finally Jamie had time to talk to me.Saying oh my dog’s heart is ok for the moment. And some heart problems that we already knew from previous vet. It’s all written in my dog’s medical history. I didn’t really know how to react. After waiting for 2 hours, I got 2 drugs. One is antibiotic drug. For her mouth. One is for anti vomit. I was really confused. When I get home after google the medicine.BUTMy dog was not vomit at all.As I told Jamie she didn’t wanna eat dinner is because her gum and teeth may be painful . Cause I fed some dry food the day before. But he still ignores my words leading problem to heart failure issue. I’m not a Dr. so when you heard Dr. saying theirs worries, situation will be leading to that way listen to what Dr said. And then , he suggested me to do another special blood test. Special for heart failure. Then i could get a special price.BUTWhen I get the bill is up to over 1000£After I get back home.I started to wondering. Why? If after his heart scan. My dog’s heart is fine. Why we need another heart failure blood test?I felt like that this whole thing is so unreasonable and over charged. Since I took my dog there specifically told them , my dog has dental problem. Didn’t wanna eat.And her gum was redness. And after I took my dog home that day.She had blood coming out from her nose.I called the vet asked what’s going on? They said could be so many reasons.....Luckily my dog is fine and wants to eat .But I still waiting for the reasonable response about a dental problem had to leads to heart problem and heart scan cost me so much. Also Not Vomiting but giving an anti vomit drug is still weird for my concern. While I googled the antibiotic drug has no side affect. So why we need anti vomit drug??? Thank you Sarah - best vet I had seen out of all the vets I unfortunately saw that week. Thank you so much. I used their out of hours service as I had a very sick cat (who unfortunately didn’t make it and had to be PTS) I was extremely worried but Sarah was kind, to the point, treated the cat I had in my care and that was her only goal, she communicated everything so well to me, and the only vet that took my concerns seriously - she not only was great with the cat I brought in, she also was brilliant with me and made me feel very part of the care of my cat - and the only one that picked up on what was wrong - I had not had an experience like this with any other vet and I had seen a few. She was really excellent, and I am forever grateful. Thank you. I also want to add the receptionists who put up with my many calls that night were brilliant too, patient and kind and did not make me feel bad for calling so many times. It’s a lot of money, and I spent every last penny, but if all my money was going to go to one of the vets I saw that week, it would be to village vet Hampstead all over again. So I do not regret it even slightly. I am very grateful for the staff there and for the work they do. Read Less

I took my ferret here on new years eve as an emergency due to an accident. Initially we were quoted the same price as the treatment would be for a dog by the locum vet, however the next day when we picked him up, the other vet Helen corrected her colleagues mistake so we paid the right amount. Both vets were professional giving us phone updates very early in the morning to let us know how our ferret was doing. Helen was very caring and gave advice over email aswell after he was discharged.Overall, I would say it is a good vet but in an emergency be prepared to pay quite a high bill. MAKE SURE YOUR PET DOESN'T GET ILL ON A PUBLIC HOLIDAY... took my bunny in on New Year's Day who hadn't eaten for 12 hours. This is a common killer in rabbits, whose digestive system shut down after long periods of not eating hay. I was told to take my bunny home and give him medicine. The next morning he was dead. I didn't know that the first 12 hours were critical and that if a bunny doesn't eat in this time an x-ray is usually taken and they may be put on a drip.... it is common knowledge amongst vets that rabbits that haven't eaten are in a serious condition. We asked for the bunny to be kept in the vet and be given an X-ray...but were denied this. Instead we were just sent home and charged a hefty bill for coming in on a public holiday. My bunny had been young and healthy just two days before. Read Less

The most unprofessional and impersonal experience I have ever had with my dog. They took my dog away and performed procedures on my dog without my permission. I was not asked nor informed. The first time we visited, we waited for over half an hour. When we were finally seen, the vet was in a hurry. She didn't examine my dog, just looked at his teeth very briefly and charged us 50. It was bad service but I decided to call it bad luck. It was just a routine health check and my dog was healthy, no harm caused. The second time we visited was tonight and again we waited for over half an hour. I didn't mind as my dog didn't have a life threatening condition so a bit of time lost is acceptable. A blood sample from my dog was needed and I asked whether I could go with the vet while this procedure is being carried out but they refused, and asked me to wait upstairs. When my dog was returned to me, he was SHAVED. Half of his front coat was gone! They did not ask for my permission to shave my dog, they just did it. I was waiting upstairs, they should have checked with me. You never shave a show dog before a show! We are travelling to Asia in ten days for a show, and now I have a dog with no coat. I rang a number of vets later on this evening and they have informed me that although it is advisory to shave the neck for blood tests, as it makes it easier for the vet to identify the veins, as well as to prevent infections afterwards, drawing blood can be performed without shaving off a huge proportion of a dog's coat. Just a small patch would suffice. In fact, if it's a show dog they would not have shaved him at all and just ask the owner to clean around the wound more often to prevent infections. It's not necessary to shave so much coat off a dog just to draw some blood. If you really want to visit this vet, don't let your pet out of your sight as people at this practice will perform procedures on your pet without your consent. Our cat had a litter of 4 kittens last year, 2 of which were born with defects. Basically their bums were sealed, meaning they couldn't poop properly. We only noticed this was the case when we moved the little guys onto solid food, and we noticed their painful distress as faeces was pushed through the little kittens urethra.Village Vet did surgery on the 2 kittens to essentially open up their bums and close the opening between the anus and the urethra. The surgery went well and the 2 kittens responded well. unfortunately, due to the nature of the problem, specific medication was needed to keep the kittens digestion process in a certain state (I'll spare you the details) and more or less constant veterinary care was needed. 2 months after the initial surgery my wife and I were forced to put the 2 kittens to sleep. The reasons for us doing so had more to do with us being unable to afford the constant care, and insurance companies unwilling to cover bills of this pre-existing nature. The care that these 2 kittens got while we tried to keep them going was second to none. Village Vet went above and beyond with their attention and support. Thank you to all the vets and Nurses that work there, you're a great bunch of people. Read Less

I have used Village Vet Hampstead for over 25 years and have watched it grow from extremely good beginnings to the state of the art practice of excellence it is today. I recently did a secret observation of this practice from 11pm through to the early hours of the next morning; I can only describe what I saw as the most incredible standard of care and efficiency I had ever experienced in my life. When an emergency presented itself around midnight, a team of the most organised, and obviously highly experienced, nurses were immediately at hand to tackle the situation and diffuse any further trauma. During the night I observed a regular flow of clients with their pets and also saw many of the in-patients being walked in the village by nursing staff. Such is the standard of care and hygiene here, nurses are often seen carrying buckets of disinfectant and mops to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for the local community. A sense of community is what Village Vet is all about. The brainchild of founder, Dr Brendan Robinson, Village Vet prides itself as 'special vets for special pets' and this is about as near to the truth as it gets. This is care and expertise of the highest quality with many leading veterinary skills and qualifications in-house. This practice is unique in as much as it can boast a Tier 3 accredited emergency hospital to which referrals come from across the capital and beyond. Leading experts in their field such as Dr Adam Mugford (consultant group head of emergency and intensive care) are constantly at hand to deliver the very best veterinary science can offer. Between Adam, Brendan, and surgeon, James, my Yorkshire terrier, Teddy, was given over 2 years of extra life he'd never have had without their care and brilliance. I always judge as I find and I can honestly assure anyone that my experience at Village Vet has been nothing but comforting, inspiring, and constantly reassuring. This is a warm and friendly place at the most personal of levels. You are cared for here by people who genuinely care. They will stand by you and support you at the darkest of times and they will bring back the light for you until you are healed. Needless to say, Village Vet is indeed the vets your pet would choose.
