Boys hockey: Prairie Centre thwarts Willmar Cardinals

SAUK CENTRE Leyton Fuchs and Alex Trierweiler helped Prairie Centre spoil the Willmar boys hockey team’s season opener. The pair scored two goals apiece to give the North Stars a 5-3 victory Friday at the Sauk Centre Ice Arena. Trierweiler also had three assists in the victory. James Rieland had a goal and three assists. Hagen Brunkhorst and Jace Chalich also scored for Prairie Centre. Cardinals junior Luke Larson scored a pair of goals. He scored the first 31 seconds into the second period. He added another at 6: 01 of the third period. Aden Jacobson tallied a goal and an assist for Willmar. Eli Hagen put up two assists. Cooper Thole added a helper. Willmar has its home opener at 7 p. m. Tuesday against River Lakes at the Willmar Civic Center Arena.
