Candace Starr Braasch, 70, North Platte

Candace Starr Braasch, 70, of North Platte passed away on Nov. 10, 2025. Candace was born on Jan. 30, 1955 to Hilman and Pauline Cain. She attended elementary and junior high school in Chadron and graduated from North Platte High School in 1973. She went on to complete a year of college studying dental assisting. On Oct. 18, 1991, Candace married Dave Braasch in Chadron and together they welcomed their daughter, Brittany. Candace worked for many years at Sixth Street Grocery before joining First National Bank, where she remained until her retirement in 2011. After retiring, Candace and Dave moved to Clay Springs, Ariz., where she volunteered at Equine Wellbeing Rescue, dedicating her time to loving and caring for horses. Shet met some wonderful souls. Candace loved exploring the White Mountains in Arizona, realistic rock painting, helping at the rescue and spending time with her granddaughters. Candace is preceded in death by her grandparents, and parents, Hilan and Pauline Cain. Candace leaves behind her husband, Dave; daughter, Brittany (David) Sanford; son, Brian Bizzell; brothers, Brad Cain, and Rod (Charleen) Cain; and granddaughters, Skylar, Madison, and Morgan Sanford. Graveside service will be held on 11 a. m. Friday, Nov. 21 at Fort McPherson National Cemetery with Pastor Mark Baldwin officiating. Following the burial there will be a Celebration of Life at Lincoln Highway RV Park. The family invites guests to dress casually. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.
