Blackhawks Rally Late to Defeat Maple Leafs 3-2

CHICAGO (AP) — Colton Dach scored the tiebreaking goal late in the third period as the Chicago Blackhawks edged the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 on Saturday night.

Ryan Greene and Teuvo Teräväinen also found the back of the net for Chicago, which secured its fourth win in five games and extended its point streak to four wins and one overtime loss. Goaltender Spencer Knight recorded 31 saves for the Blackhawks.

For Toronto, Nicholas Robertson and Morgan Rielly scored, but the Maple Leafs suffered their fifth consecutive loss (0-4-1). Joseph Woll made 29 saves in the defeat.

Dach’s game-winning goal came with 4:25 remaining in regulation. Crossing through the slot, he redirected Louis Crevier’s shot from the right point with the shaft of his stick, completing Chicago’s comeback.

The Blackhawks opened the scoring 11:05 into the first period when Greene fired a one-timer from the left circle. Toronto responded 48 seconds before the first intermission as Robertson poked in a rebound following Knight’s stop on John Tavares from point-blank range.

Midway through the second period, the Maple Leafs took a 2-1 lead on Rielly’s third goal of the season—a wrist shot over Knight’s right shoulder. Chicago challenged the goal due to a possible high-stick pass, but the officials ruled the play legal.

Teräväinen tied the game 2-2 early in the third, racing past Rielly and beating Woll on the stick side at 8:12. Notably, Toronto’s Auston Matthews missed his second straight game with a lower-body injury.

Chicago welcomed back Frank Nazar to the lineup, but lost Nick Foligno late in the second period after he took a hard shot off his left hand.
