ARC Raiders launched a duo matchmaking system, but it’s not a duos mode

ARC Raiders received an update this week, bringing along some additional details that weren’t included in the base patch notes. One notable change involves the matchmaking system.

Embark Studios revealed that they have been testing and have now implemented a duo matchmaking system. It’s important to note that this is not a dedicated duos mode. Instead, it’s a matchmaking system designed to increase the likelihood that duo queues will be matched against other duo queues. Similarly, solo and trio queues are expected to work in the same way.

In a recent light update blog covering the in-game store and matchmaking, the developers shared more information about how this duo matchmaking system prioritization works. They explained that the system is not strictly a duos mode; rather, it attempts to ensure that duos matchmake with duos, solos with solos, and trios with trios wherever possible.

This system does not guarantee perfect matching. For example, as a solo player, you might still encounter squads or duos in your matches. However, Embark Studios plans to monitor the system’s performance and make adjustments as needed to improve the matchmaking experience over time.
