**Phoenix Man Arrested in Connection with Stabbing Death West of Downtown**
A Phoenix man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing death of a woman west of downtown Phoenix on Friday morning, authorities said.
The Phoenix Police Department identified 47-year-old Jeffrey Rael as the man in custody. Rael faces a charge of first-degree murder and is being held on a $1 million bond, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
**Details on the Stabbing**
Officers responded to a home near 19th Avenue and Grant Street for a domestic violence call around 3:40 a.m. on Friday. According to Phoenix police, during the 911 call, Rael reportedly wanted to report that he had killed his girlfriend.
When police arrived on the scene, officers made contact with Rael and took him into custody. Police said that officers then searched the home and found 31-year-old Paxton Wallace suffering from multiple injuries consistent with a “sharp bladed instrument.”
The Phoenix Fire Department responded and pronounced Wallace dead at the scene.
Rael was taken to a nearby hospital out of precaution and received treatment before being released and booked into jail, police said.
The investigation into the stabbing death is ongoing. No other information has been released at this time.
