**Dublin Man Arrested for Prowling, Theft at UC Berkeley Sorority House**
BERKELEY, Calif. — A man from Dublin is in police custody after allegedly prowling and stealing personal items from a sorority house near the University of California, Berkeley. Authorities said the suspect, Courtney Alford, 45, was arrested on suspicion of multiple crimes.
Early Saturday morning, members of the sorority house on the 2300 block of Warring Street reported seeing an unknown man inside the bedroom of one of the residents. The man fled through a back door around 6 a.m., but investigators say other sorority members had spotted him as early as 3 a.m.
A review of security footage revealed the suspect walking throughout the house, both inside and outside, until about 6:35 a.m. At one point, he reportedly left and changed clothes before returning in a ski mask.
Detectives learned that the suspect had stolen food and underwear from a resident’s room. He was also accused of watching women shower in the communal bathroom.
Using security video, detectives with the department’s Sex Crimes Unit pursued several investigative leads. Their efforts led them to Alford as the primary suspect. License plate reader technology allegedly placed Alford’s vehicle in the neighborhood before and after the reported burglary.
An arrest warrant was issued, and Alford was taken into custody in Castro Valley on Wednesday. During a subsequent search of his Dublin home, officers reportedly discovered parts for an assault rifle, high-capacity ammunition magazines, and more than 900 rounds of ammunition.
On Thursday, prosecutors charged Alford with burglary, prowling/peeking, invading privacy, unlawful entry, and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
