‘My heart was in my throat’: Ameowzing volunteers successfully save cat tied to a rope hiding under a busy highway, showing the difficulty and danger before the heartwarming rescue

We often write about cats after they’ve been rescued, but what about the actual process of saving them?

Sometimes, the cats are domesticated and come right up to you. Other times, they’re feral or frightened, and there’s a real risk of them escaping before you can bring them to safety. This risk is never more apparent than when a scared stray is near a busy road or, even worse, a highway. These rescues are the most dangerous and difficult. You typically only get one shot—and if you miss it, well, we don’t like to think about what could happen.

In the video, animal rescue volunteers carefully surround a poor kitty who was tied to a rope and hiding at the edge of a highway filled with speeding cars. They approach slowly, patiently, and calmly. One volunteer was able to grab the rope, which, at the very least, prevented the cat from escaping.

They finally got the cat into a carrier, and now it is safely in their care. The cat was clearly someone’s pet once, so all we can hope is that someone will find it in their hearts to take this floofy feline into their homes.

After watching the clip below, please give a round of “appaws” for all the everyday heroes who go out and rescue these cats. They are truly angels in hooman form!
