‘Unintimidated’ Jack Smith vows to present case against Trump: report

Former Department of Justice Special Counsel Jack Smith reportedly remains undeterred by the Trump DOJ’s ongoing investigation into his activities. Sources close to Smith say he is eager to publicly present the case he built against now-President Donald Trump.

According to a report from *The New York Times* on Monday, “Mr. Smith, the special counsel who twice indicted Mr. Trump, appears unintimidated by the president’s demand that Republican lawmakers investigate him and that the Justice Department put him in prison for as-yet unproved and unspecified crimes.”

In an early October interview with fellow former federal prosecutor Andrew Weissmann, Smith dismissed claims of political bias in his team’s composition, stating, “The idea that politics played a role in who worked on that case, or who got chosen, is ludicrous.”

Smith also emphasized the strength of the evidence against Trump, saying he had “tons of evidence” that the former president knowingly retained classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago residence and attempted “to obstruct the investigation.”

Those within Smith’s “orbit” reveal that he looks forward to presenting the evidence from two high-profile cases — one involving classified documents and another regarding alleged interference in the 2020 election. Both cases faced setbacks due to a U.S. Supreme Court immunity ruling and a controversial federal judge’s decision.

Having spent over two years aggressively gathering evidence against Trump, Smith is reportedly eager to challenge a key narrative held by MAGA supporters: that Trump was a “sinned-upon innocent” undeserving of scrutiny and prosecution. The Times further notes that Smith now occupies a prominent position on Trump’s so-called “prosecutorial hit list,” alongside former Biden Attorney General Merrick Garland and Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco.

Smith had been prosecuting Trump on two fronts: the classified documents case and the 2020 election interference case.

Last week, President Trump took to social media to accuse several officials of misconduct, alleging, “Documents show conclusively that Christopher Wray, Deranged Jack Smith, Merrick Garland, Lisa Monaco, and other crooked lowlifes from the failed Biden Administration, signed off on Operation Arctic Frost.”

He continued, “They spied on Senators and Congressmen/women, and even taped their calls. They cheated and rigged the 2020 Presidential Election. These Radical Left Lunatics should be prosecuted for their illegal and highly unethical behavior!”

As the legal battles unfold, Jack Smith remains resolute in presenting his evidence and pursuing accountability.
