Simu Liu is getting Marvel fans hyped with his latest comments about the upcoming blockbuster, *Avengers: Doomsday*. Describing the film as a “dream come true,” Liu shared his excitement with ScreenRant:
“I mean, there are just so many actors in it, and getting to work with those people as peers is really incredible because I grew up watching so many of them,” he said. “It feels, in a lot of ways, like a love letter to the entire genre of superhero movies. And I think there’s something really fun about that.”
Liu, who has not reprised his role as Shang-Chi since *Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings* hit theaters in 2021, remains a fan favorite. While details about the plot of *Avengers: Doomsday* are still scarce, fan theories abound. Some of these theories have been fueled by star Robert Downey Jr. himself.
Just before his Doctor Doom made a cameo in the end-credits scene of *The Fantastic Four: First Steps*, Downey Jr. took to Instagram to share some of his reading material related to the upcoming film. This included *Iron Man: Legacy of Doom* by Bob Layton and David Michelinie, *Secret Wars #1* by Jim Shooter, and *West Coast Avengers #35*.
In *Legacy of Doom*, Iron Man and Doctor Doom face off after making a bad deal with Mephisto. This has led to speculation that we might see a multiverse version of Iron Man joining the Avengers in the battle against Doctor Doom.
Meanwhile, a sequel to *Shang-Chi* has reportedly been in development for over three years as part of director Destin Daniel Cretton’s overall deal with Disney. However, Cretton is currently busy helming *Spider-Man 4*. Simu Liu confirmed in September that the sequel is still in the works, but it may be some time before it makes its way to the big screen.
Fans will have to stay tuned for more updates as Marvel continues to expand its ever-growing cinematic universe.
