Glen Powell Opens Up About Embarrassing Wardrobe Malfunction on Set of “The Running Man”
Glen Powell recently got candid about an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction he experienced while filming his latest movie, *The Running Man*. During an episode of Entertainment Tonight’s “Spilling the E-Tea,” the 37-year-old actor shared how shocked he was to discover that one of his stunts left him more exposed than he had anticipated.
The stunt involved Powell rappelling down the side of a building while seemingly naked. He explained that he was actually wearing a towel with “a little, like, a pouch underneath,” which he humorously referred to as a “marble sack.”
“So, I’m wearing a pouch under, and then I’m wearing a towel around it,” Powell said. “But then you’re rappelling down a building. And, you know, when you’re going down the building and you see a window, you don’t realize there’s people in there, like, lighting and doing electric.”
His co-star Josh Brolin couldn’t help but tease him about the incident, pointing out that the crew on the other side of the window was “watching [him] come down frontally,” before mimicking Powell’s stance by spreading his legs.
About *The Running Man*
In *The Running Man*, Powell stars as a father desperate to make quick money to treat his sick daughter. To obtain the funds, he participates in a reality show where contestants must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins.
Powell discussed the infamous scene during an interview with *Entertainment Weekly*, sharing his initial excitement about the stunt. “I found it very, very funny, and something that I’ve never seen in a movie before,” he said.
However, he admits that filming the scene was a different experience. “I regretted agreeing to it because I agreed to that scene in the summertime, and we shot that scene in February in Bulgaria on a rooftop,” Powell recalled. “So being in a towel in front of a crew is one thing, but being in a towel in February in frigid Bulgaria, it’s a sight.”
Powell’s Rising Career and Recent Rumors
Glen Powell’s big break came in 2022 when he starred alongside Tom Cruise in *Top Gun: Maverick*. In 2023, he appeared in both *Hit Man* and *Anyone But You*, with the former earning him a Golden Globe nomination.
Following the release of *Anyone But You*, rumors about a romantic connection between Powell and his co-star Sydney Sweeney began to circulate, despite Sweeney being engaged at the time. The rumors intensified after Sweeney ended her engagement and attended Powell’s sister’s wedding in March.
Speaking to *Variety* in October, Sweeney addressed the speculation: “The press did it themselves. There was no leaning in, per se. The tabloids and journalists just created it and kept going. Even if we were just standing next to each other, it was, ‘They’re standing two inches apart!’”
*The Running Man* is set to hit theaters on Friday, November 7.
