The Do-Over Damsel Conquers the Dragon Emperor Shows Why Hadis Turned Out How He Did

At the outset of *The Do-Over Damsel Conquers the Dragon Emperor*, we witnessed heroine Jill Cervel being murdered by her fiancé and witnessed the Dragon Emperor Hadis Teos Rave’s descent into madness. Then, time rewound, giving Jill a second chance to face these dire situations armed with the knowledge from her previous life.

However, the Hadis presented to us in this rewind timeline initially doesn’t resemble the ruthless figure we encountered in the first volume. Now, by the time we’ve reached volume six, it becomes much clearer how his dark past came to be shaped by the actions of those around him—and how Jill’s presence is crucial in preventing that grim future.

**A Different Side of Hadis**

When we first met Hadis in *The Do-Over Damsel Conquers the Dragon Emperor* manga, Jill was an adult who saw him at his worst. He was ravenous, exiled from his own country, and a threat to everyone around him. In stark contrast, the Hadis Jill reunites with during her do-over is courteous, respectful, and welcomes her warmly as his fiancé.

He even enjoys cooking and doesn’t shy away from being teased by Rave, the dragon Jill can see thanks to her innate power. This version of Hadis is more approachable and humanized, which initially makes the darker path we saw in the first volume seem inconceivable.

**Understanding Hadis’ Troubled Past**

As the story unfolds through the subsequent volumes, we gain insight into how abused Hadis was by his own family. Labeled a curse and scapegoated for various deaths, he endured harsh treatment due to his innate powers. Despite never harboring ill will, the mistreatment was forced upon him, with only Rave providing any real support.

Placed in such a situation without allies, His descent into darkness becomes more understandable—especially considering the developments in volumes five and six.

**Family Dynamics and Betrayal**

Volumes five and six introduce Hadis’ siblings, Elentzia and Risteard. When Jill meets them, she observes their behavior towards Hadis and suspects they might genuinely care for him. Risteard, in particular, shows concern despite his rough demeanor.

However, Hadis’ troubled past leaves him unable to fully trust them, and there are moments when he even questions whether he can trust Jill. These strained relationships set the stage for major unfolding events.

As Prince Gerard of Kratos Kingdom returns alongside the family’s uncle, George Teos Rave, tension escalates. Hadis suspects betrayal, and when it comes, Jill is placed in danger, and Hadis faces the potential of being overthrown.

**A Pivotal Turning Point**

This juncture feels like a critical moment that could steer the timeline back toward the dark fate Jill originally experienced. Jill will need to make a grand gesture to gain a powerful new ally amidst the chaos.

In volume two, Rave tells Hadis there might not need to be a “reign of terror.” Now, in volume six, we find ourselves in the thick of crisis. Enemies are closing in, trust is fragile, and Hadis’ anticipated betrayal unfolds.

Still, Jill is present and reacting, showing that while the story explores how things might unravel, there remains hope that this dark future can be averted.
