**Drake Batherson and Tim Stutzle Lead Senators to 7-2 Victory Over Bruins**
OTTAWA, Ontario – Drake Batherson and Tim Stutzle each tallied two goals and an assist, spearheading the Ottawa Senators to a commanding 7-2 win over the Boston Bruins on Monday night. This victory marks the Senators’ third consecutive win, continuing their strong start to the season.
Additional goals were contributed by Claude Giroux, Nick Cousins, and Fabian Zetterlund, while goaltender Leevi Merilainen made 26 saves. The 23-year-old netminder bounced back impressively after allowing seven goals in his only other start this season against the Buffalo Sabres on October 15.
Boston took an early lead when Morgan Geekie scored on the Bruins’ first shot of the night following a defensive-zone turnover by Ottawa. However, that would be all the offense Boston could generate until the final moments of the game, when Viktor Arvidsson scored with less than 10 seconds remaining. Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman stopped 17 shots in the loss, as Boston remains in last place in the Atlantic Division.
Batherson’s first goal of the night, a power-play marker, tied the game 1-1 midway through the first period. Monday’s game was notable as it marked the first time since February 2023 that the Senators have scored more than six goals in back-to-back games. The previous night, they posted seven goals against the Washington Capitals.
An unusual moment for Ottawa fans came during the intermissions, when the team broadcast full audio of the World Series game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Most fans remained seated, showing their support for their fellow Toronto-based team even while cheering on the Senators.
Up next, the Bruins will host the New York Islanders on Tuesday.
