Texans for Sen. John Cornyn, Inc. has launched a website dedicated to taking down Wesley Hunt, featuring a prominent political ad at the top of the page. The new minute-long ad asserts, “Wesley Hunt says he’s MAGA, but the facts tell a different story.”
The ad highlights Hunt’s admitted vote for Hillary Clinton in the 2008 Democratic primary—a move Hunt claimed was intended to prolong the primary and create chaos among Democrats. Accompanying the ad, text on the website reads: “In 2008, Wesley Hunt supported Hillary Clinton long before pretending to be MAGA. Real conservatives don’t back the Clinton machine.”
Additionally, the ad criticizes Hunt’s voting record, particularly targeting missed votes during his tenure in the House. It concludes with a pointed message: “There’s more to come. Unlike Wesley Hunt missing House votes, you won’t want to miss this. Texans deserve better than fake MAGA Wesley Hunt.”
Hunt was quick to respond, firing back at Cornyn with the same “fake MAGA” label. In a statement, Hunt said, “It’s ironic being called ‘Fake MAGA’ by a Senator running in the wrong Texas Primary, because his record reads like a registered Democrat.”
He continued, “It’s ironic being called ‘Fake MAGA’ by a man who told the press America was ready to move on from President Trump.”
Further accusing Cornyn of undermining Trump behind the scenes, Hunt pointed to Trump’s own harsh words about the senator. “Because when it mattered most, John Cornyn didn’t fight. He folded. He compromised. He surrendered to the Left,” Hunt declared.

A recent poll shows Cornyn and Attorney General Ken Paxton evenly matched after Hunt’s entry into the race, with Paxton at 34% and Cornyn at 33%, while Hunt trails with a distant 22%.
Cornyn managed to erase Paxton’s significant lead following a scandal involving alleged infidelity and corruption during Paxton’s time as attorney general.
