ChatGPT Atlas is a new browser from OpenAI

OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, has unveiled ChatGPT Atlas, a new web browser powered by its popular AI language model. Currently available for macOS devices, ChatGPT Atlas integrates advanced AI capabilities directly into the browsing experience.

A recently released video by OpenAI showcases the functionality of ChatGPT Atlas. The browser features a sidebar where users can interact with ChatGPT—asking questions or issuing commands—while navigating the internet. For example, one user queries the AI about nearby hiking areas while browsing Vrbo, and another places an order for beach trip essentials through Instacart.

This interactive feature is called “Agent Mode,” which enables ChatGPT to actively engage with websites in real-time. However, access to Agent Mode is currently limited to subscribers of the Plus, Pro, and Business plans.

Additional details about ChatGPT Atlas are available on its dedicated website. Notably, users will have control over what information ChatGPT remembers, allowing them to tailor what data the AI considers relevant when generating responses. This personalized memory management aims to enhance the accuracy and usefulness of inquiry results within the browser.
