Jensen Huang throws shade at ‘policy makers’ over NVIDIA (NVDA) exit from China

According to NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, the company is currently out of the Chinese AI market. This exit is not by choice. The Chinese market remains one of the most booming and profitable worldwide, but ongoing trade war policies between the US and China have forced companies like NVIDIA to navigate a challenging landscape.

The trade tensions, largely driven by efforts to bring manufacturing back to the United States, have significantly impacted NVIDIA’s operations in China. For the company, this has meant ending its current business activities in the region.

Huang expressed his frustrations about this situation during Citadel Securities’ Future of Global Markets 2025 conference, as reported by Wccftech. He revealed that the political turmoil has caused NVIDIA to lose a massive overseas opportunity.

NVIDIA has faced challenges on both sides of the US-China trade war. In April 2025, the US government imposed new export restrictions on NVIDIA’s H20 AI chips sold to China, resulting in an estimated $5.5 billion loss for the company. Despite this setback, NVIDIA attempted to salvage the situation by securing licenses for several Chinese customers to purchase its chips.

Unfortunately, the Chinese government soon issued guidance instructing domestic companies not to buy NVIDIA’s AI chips. This move effectively halted NVIDIA’s business dealings in China for the foreseeable future.

As a result, NVIDIA finds itself sidelined in a crucial market, caught in the crossfire of geopolitical tensions that have reshaped the global AI and semiconductor industries.
