Nintendo (NTDOY) is reportedly ramping up Switch 2 production to 25 million units by March 2026

Nintendo’s incredibly popular Nintendo Switch 2 console is expected to exceed analysts’ sales estimates as Nintendo ramps up production of the device. Reports indicate that the company, often referred to as the Big N, is aiming to produce around 25 million units by early next year.

According to a report by Bloomberg, Nintendo is increasing Switch 2 production in a bid to reach this ambitious target by March 2026. Sources familiar with the matter reveal that Nintendo has asked its manufacturing partners to boost output, anticipating strong demand for the console throughout the holiday period and continuing into the first quarter of 2026.

This marks a significant increase from Nintendo’s previous sales expectations, which projected 15 million Switch 2 consoles sold by the end of fiscal year 2026. The console has already seen impressive early sales figures; the first quarter of FY26 recorded 5.82 million units sold, with 3.5 million of those purchases happening in the first four days following launch.

Software sales have also been robust. The launch title Mario Kart World has sold 5.63 million units, nearly matching the console’s attachment rate at close to one-to-one.

Nintendo’s decision to ramp up production and meet strong consumer demand further solidifies its position, especially in light of ongoing U.S. tariff measures. Despite these challenging market conditions, Nintendo maintained its earnings forecast back in August, signaling confidence in the Switch 2’s continued success.
