Actor Shweta Tripathi has joined the shoot of *Mirzapur: The Film* in Varanasi, as reported by Mid-Day on Tuesday.
### A Deep Connection with Varanasi
Speaking about her character, Golu Gupta, Tripathi described the city’s significance to her role. She called Varanasi her “second home,” explaining that much of Golu’s journey—her transformation, pain, and strength—are deeply rooted in this historic city. She further described Golu as a companion who has lived through many seasons, evolving with time.
Tripathi’s bond with Varanasi extends beyond *Mirzapur*. Reflecting on her career, she shared, “So many of my milestones are connected to this city. From *Masaan* to the first and second seasons of *Mirzapur*, and from *Escaype Live* to *Kaalkoot*, every project here has given me something unforgettable.”
### Bringing Golu to the Big Screen
Since the premiere of *Mirzapur*’s first season in 2018, Tripathi has portrayed Golu, a character beloved by fans. Now, transitioning Golu’s story from the small screen to the big screen presents both challenges and rewards. Tripathi commented, “To bring her to the big screen is both challenging and rewarding because the stakes feel higher—not just for her but for the world of *Mirzapur* itself.”
Filming the movie in Varanasi, “where it all began,” adds a layer of authenticity that Tripathi feels is essential to the project.

The film adaptation of the popular Prime Video web series *Mirzapur* is currently being shot in Varanasi under the direction of Gurmmeet Singh. Alongside Shweta Tripathi, key cast members include Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, and Rasika Dugal.
