Chandrashekar Pole, a 27-year-old Indian student from Hyderabad, was tragically shot dead at a gas station in Denton, Texas. The incident took place on Friday night when an unidentified gunman, reportedly of African-American origin, opened fire.

Pole had moved to the United States in 2023 to pursue higher studies after completing his bachelor’s degree in dental surgery in India. Six months ago, he completed his master’s degree and was working part-time at the gas station while searching for full-time employment.

**Family Seeks Government Assistance**

Pole’s family is now appealing to the Indian government for help in bringing his body back home. His mother, Sunitha, shared that they found out about his death from a friend’s parents.

“We request the central and state governments to ensure the safety of Indians and bring my son’s body back home as soon as possible,” she said.

The Consulate General of India (CGI) in Houston is actively coordinating with local authorities to investigate the incident and stay in touch with Pole’s family.

**Official Response**

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed his condolences on the loss and assured that the government would extend every possible support to repatriate Pole’s remains.

“The death of Pole Chandrasekhar in a shooting incident by miscreants in America has caused deep shock and grief,” Reddy commented.

Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) MLA Sudhir Reddy and former minister T Harish Rao visited Pole’s family in Hyderabad to offer condolences and support during this difficult time.

**Safety Concerns for Indian Students Abroad**

This tragic incident has once again raised pressing questions about the safety of international students working part-time jobs in the US, particularly during late hours.

Earlier this year, a similar case emerged when another Indian-origin man from Telangana was shot dead by police in California’s Santa Clara following an alleged altercation with his roommate. The Ministry of External Affairs had assured full assistance to repatriate the victim’s remains.

As the investigation continues, the safety and well-being of Indian students abroad remain key concerns for families and authorities alike.
