Congress leader P Chidambaram on Monday addressed the tragic stampede that occurred during a political rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, resulting in the loss of 41 lives. The rally, held on the night of September 27, was addressed by actor-turned-politician Vijay, president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

Speaking to ANI in Trichy, Chidambaram said, “Mr. K Selvaperunthagai, the TNCC president, has made a statement that is the party’s position and also my position. However, after reading the newspapers and watching some visuals on television, I feel that there is an error on all sides—in Tamil, we say all four sides.”

He added that these errors prompted him to suggest a solution, which he has communicated to the Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu. “I am sure the government will receive many suggestions, and they will consider all of them to make decisions for the future that will be enforced for all political parties,” Chidambaram said.
