A circus performer tragically fell to her death in front of a horrified audience during a performance in Bautzen, east Germany. Marina B, an accomplished trapeze artist from Mallorca, died after attempting the iconic trapeze stunt at the Paul Busch Circus.
Over 80 spectators watched in dismay as the woman plummeted to the ground. Screams erupted throughout the family show as police and emergency services rushed to the scene. Sadly, Marina B was pronounced dead at the spot, police confirmed.
Following the incident, a note was posted on the circus ticket booth reading: “Due to a bereavement, the circus will be closed.”
According to reports from The Mirror, parents quickly covered their children’s eyes inside the tent after witnessing the tragic fall during the Spanish acrobat’s solo performance.
Marina B was a proud performer who traveled the world with the circus. Her final Instagram post featured an image of herself mid-air, captioned: “Up here, I work best.” She had previously shared, “For me, every show is an opportunity to share my passion for what I do. I believe that art has the power to create unforgettable moments.”
Paul Busch Circus has yet to release an official statement regarding the tragedy.
Police spokesman Stefan Heiduck stated, “Trained experts from crisis intervention were on hand to support those who needed it. The team was immediately deployed to care for guests and circus employees.”
Mayor Karten Vogt expressed his deep sorrow over the accident, telling MDR: “The accident has deeply affected us. On behalf of the city, I express my sincere condolences to the relatives and bereaved. Our thoughts are with the families and all those affected by this terrible accident.”
