Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently inspected the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project in Gujarat’s Surat district and expressed his satisfaction with the progress, calling it “really good.” The first operational stretch of this high-speed rail corridor is planned between Surat and Bilimora, with an expected launch in 2027.

### Unique Technologies Incorporated

During his visit, Vaishnaw emphasized that the project incorporates several unique technologies, which hold the potential to benefit other infrastructure developments across India. These innovations mark a significant step forward in India’s transportation and engineering sectors.

### Surat Station Design and Features

Minister Vaishnaw revealed that once the entire corridor is completed, all bullet trains will make stops at Surat station. The station itself has been designed thoughtfully, featuring two tracks on either side and two in the center, along with a spacious concourse to accommodate passengers comfortably.

“There is a specialty there too,” Vaishnaw commented, highlighting the station’s advanced design features aimed at enhancing passenger experience and operational efficiency.

### Speed and Operational Timeline

The bullet trains are expected to operate at impressive speeds ranging between 320 and 340 km/h, set to revolutionize India’s rail transportation. Specifically, the high-speed rail turnouts have been engineered to support these speeds.

Regarding the timeline, Vaishnaw confirmed that the first section from Surat to Bilimora is likely to be operational by 2027, marking a major milestone in the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project.
