Five Children Injured as 4-Meter Festival Float Overturns in Nagano

According to police, a float approximately four meters tall toppled inside the shrine grounds at around 9 p.m. During the incident, twenty-one people, including both adults and children, were riding on the float.

Five children, aged between 9 and 14, sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident.

A witness described the moment the float fell, saying, “I thought it might have been going a little too fast. When it turned the corner, it leaned slightly, and before I knew it, it had tipped over with a crash.”

The festival featured a parade of eight floats at the shrine. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
