Bengaluru Shocker: Man Stabs Wife 11 Times In Front Of Her Daughter, Later Surrenders To Police

Bengaluru: A man who stabbed his second wife 11 times in broad daylight, resulting in her death, surrendered to the police in Bengaluru on Tuesday. The accused has been identified as 43-year-old Lohitashwa, also known as Lokesh, a native of Sira town in Tumakuru district.

The horrifying incident occurred on Monday in front of the victim Rekha’s 12-year-old daughter. According to DCP (West) S. Girish, Lokesh voluntarily surrendered himself to the police and has been booked under Section 103 of the BNS Act.

Investigations reveal that Lokesh committed the crime out of suspicion that his wife was involved with other men, a claim that currently appears to be unfounded.

Rekha, the victim, was a divorcee and mother of two daughters who had recently married Lokesh, marking his second marriage as well. Rekha worked for a private company and kept her elder daughter with her while leaving the younger one with her parents. Lokesh objected to this arrangement and demanded that she send the elder daughter away, but Rekha refused.

Lokesh also grew suspicious of Rekha’s fidelity at her workplace. On Monday, while Rekha was standing at a bus stop near Sunkadakatte in Bengaluru, Lokesh followed her and stabbed her 11 times in the chest and other parts of her body in front of her daughter.

Even as bystanders tried to intervene, Lokesh threatened them and continued the brutal assault. After the attack, he threw the knife towards the crowd and fled the scene.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Lokesh, a cab driver, and Rekha, a native of Channarayapatna in Hassan district, had met through friends while working at the same company. The couple had been in a live-in relationship for about one and a half years before deciding to marry recently.

The couple had rented a house in Sunkadakatte, where frequent quarrels arose, mainly concerning Rekha’s elder daughter. On the day of the murder, the two had a bitter fight at home. Rekha left the house with her daughter, but an enraged Lokesh followed her and committed the crime.

Kamakshipalya police have taken up the investigation and are continuing further inquiries.
