**UPI Payment Rules Update: Key Changes Effective November 3**

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has announced significant changes to the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) settlement cycles, set to take effect from November 3, 2025. These updates aim to enhance the efficiency and clarity of UPI transaction settlements amid growing transaction volumes.
**Segregation of Authorized and Dispute Transactions**
Currently, UPI processes 10 settlement cycles per day through the Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system, with each cycle handling both authorized and disputed transactions together. However, with the increase in transaction volume, NPCI has decided to separate authorized transactions from dispute-related ones.
Under the new framework, settlement cycles 1 through 10 will exclusively process authorized transactions. Dispute-related settlements will no longer be handled during these cycles.
**Dedicated Settlement Cycles for Disputes**
To handle dispute transactions efficiently, NPCI will introduce two additional settlement cycles—cycles 11 and 12—specifically for dispute-related settlements. These cycles will occur twice daily and will exclusively process dispute transactions.
NPCI has also clarified that despite this restructuring, there will be no changes to the existing cut-over timings or RTGS posting timelines.
**Extension of Deadline for Revoking Autopay Mandates**
In a related update, NPCI has extended the deadline for revoking autopay mandates linked to the former @paytm UPI ID handles. The new deadline to revoke these mandates is October 31, 2025. This extension is intended to provide users with additional time to transition away from the @paytm UPI IDs smoothly.

These changes reflect NPCI’s efforts to improve operational efficiency and user experience in the rapidly evolving digital payments landscape. Users and merchants are advised to take note of the new settlement cycles and the extended autopay mandate revocation deadline.
