No one may have it better than Dave Portnoy right now. The Barstool Sports founder and Patriots superfan took to social media to bask in New England’s 10-7 win over the Broncos in the AFC Championship game on Sunday in Denver, punching their ticket to Super Bowl 2026.
The Patriots came back from a 7-0 first-quarter deficit, with Drake Maye scoring a rushing touchdown in the second quarter. A 23-yard field goal by Andy Borregales gave them the lead with 5:29 left in the third quarter.
“We’re going back to the Super Bowl where this team belongs,” Portnoy screams in a video posted on social media shortly after the snowy game ended. “And it’s not lost on me that this dynasty started in a blizzard with the tuck rule. And it’s starting again right here in Denver in a blizzard with Adam Vinatieri up in the booth with Robin Kraft.”
The sports media personality continued to commend everything from the work of head coach Mike Vrabel, who was able to “push all the right buttons,” to the blocked fourth-quarter field goal that would have tied the score at 10.
The Broncos were playing with backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham after starter Bo Nix suffered a broken ankle in their divisional-round win. Sunday’s game descended into snowy conditions in the second half, and New England did enough to navigate the weather and pull out the win.
The Patriots are headed back to the Super Bowl for the first time since they beat the Rams in 2019. They will face the Rams-Seahawks winner at Levi’s Stadium on February 8.
“I can’t wait to see every single one of my friends. It’s been a long, long time since we’ve had our annual New England reunion,” Portnoy continued. “We’re back. I have a standing reservation at House of Prime Rib in San Francisco. We’re all going out there. We’re gonna win Super Bowl number seven. I can’t wait. Who has it better than us? Nobody.”
Portnoy ended the diatribe by shouting “Super Bowl!” several times in a row.
The playoff win marked the Patriots’ 40th, breaking a tie with the 49ers for the most postseason wins in NFL history.
