Kelly Clarkson confirms talk show to end after 7 seasons: ‘Not an easy decision’

Kelly Clarkson has confirmed that she will be leaving her eponymous daytime talk show at the end of its seventh season to spend more time with her children.

After Page Six exclusively revealed the show would be coming to an end, the “Since U Been Gone” singer shared the news in a heartfelt message on social media Monday.

“I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’ both in Los Angeles and New York,” Clarkson, 43, wrote on Instagram. “There have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons.”

The Grammy winner-turned-talk-show host expressed her deep gratitude for the experience. “I am forever grateful and honored to have worked alongside the greatest band and crew you could hope for, as well as all the talent and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us,” she added.

Clarkson also thanked the countless fans who have supported the show since its premiere in 2019, and gave a special shoutout to NBC for “always being such a supportive and incredible partner.”

“Because of all of that, this was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’” she shared.

The “Because of You” hitmaker explained that stepping away from the show will allow her to prioritize her children, which she said “feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.” Clarkson has two kids, daughter River, 11, and son Remington, 9, whom she shares with her late ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. Blackstock tragically passed away in August 2025 at the age of 48.

Ending her message on a hopeful note, Clarkson reassured fans that this isn’t goodbye. “I’ll still be making music, playing shows here and there, and you may catch me on ‘The Voice’ from time to time… you never know where I might show up next,” she wrote.

“But for now, I want to thank y’all so much for allowing our show to be a part of your lives, and for believing in us and hanging with us for seven incredible years,” Clarkson concluded.

As previously reported exclusively by Page Six last month, multiple insiders confirmed the singer’s decision to call it quits on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” after this season. One source described her exit as “definite,” while another said it was “likely that it will not go on.”

“[Her show] is a lot to put on, and looking at the landscape across daytime television, it’s not sustainable anymore,” they shared.

Rumors of Clarkson’s desire to leave the demanding daytime talk show schedule had circulated as far back as last year. An industry insider claimed that the singer planned to walk away once her contract expired this year.

“Kelly’s number one priority is her children, and they always will be,” insiders told us in April 2025. “The show is grueling. It’s a whole lot of work, and I hear that Kelly would like to spend more time down South.”

Staffers expressed concern about the show’s future amid initial rumors last year. One insider revealed Clarkson had “a bit of a breakdown” when meeting with producers to discuss the show’s future.

“She was emotional. She was worried about the staff,” an unnamed staffer told the Daily Mail in June 2025. “She’s made it very clear that she doesn’t want her decisions to affect all of our livelihoods, but it’s a bit late for that now.”

Although Clarkson ultimately stayed on for one more season, NBC reportedly began exploring possible replacements, with whispers that former “Today” host Hoda Kotb was among the candidates.

“There’s a long list of names and Hoda is part of that list,” a source told The Post last year. “NBC never wanted Hoda to leave, and the question is, would Hoda want to do it?”

Clarkson was forced to step back from “The Kelly Clarkson Show” over the summer when her ex-husband and father of her children tragically passed away following a private, years-long battle with melanoma.

During Blackstock’s illness, Clarkson stepped away from the show to care for her family. She had divorced Blackstock in 2022 after a lengthy and bitter legal battle.

Meanwhile, a press release from NBCUniversal, obtained by Page Six on Monday, confirmed that production on Season 7 of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” will continue as planned with Clarkson as host. The network also announced that “a few special guest hosts” will be introduced, and that the current season will continue airing through the fall of this year.

“We thank Kelly and the production team for the wonderful, high-quality show they’ve produced consistently since 2019, and look forward to the remainder of this season as they complete their successful run,” said Valari Staab, Chairman of NBCUniversal Local.
