Greeley police look for suspect in stabbing that left woman in critical condition

A woman is in critical condition after police say her ex-boyfriend stabbed her Sunday. Greeley police were still looking for him on Wednesday. Police arrived at the woman’s house in the 1200 block of 5th Street in Greeley at 11: 10 a. m. Sunday and found a 44-year-old woman who had been stabbed with a knife more than 16 times by her ex-boyfriend, according to a Wednesday news release from the Greeley Police Department. The woman’s brother, 56, tried to intervene during the attack and was also injured, the release stated. The woman escaped to a neighbor’s house, where the suspect, 48-year-old David Anthony Rios, followed her before fleeing the scene, the release stated. His car was found abandoned in the 1300 block of 4th Street. Police had not found him as of Wednesday afternoon, according to the release. The woman was taken to a hospital and is in critical but stable condition. The release did not include her brother’s condition.
