South Africa’s Simon Harmer continued his merry ways with the ball by dismissing Washington Sundar to bag his fifer on Day 5 of the second Test against India in Guwahati on Wednesday, November 26. Sundar departed almost identically to the same bowler and slip fielder in the game, perishing for 16 off 44 balls in the second innings. The dismissal came in the 61st over of India’s run chase. Harmer bowled a length ball outside off, a quicker one at 90. 1 kmph. Sundar went back to defend but ended up hanging his bat out. The ball induced an outside edge and went sharply towards the right of Aiden Markram, who completed the most catches in a Test match (nine). Watch the video below: Simon Harmer troubled India throughout the Test series. The 36-year-old bagged eight wickets in the first Test as the Proteas won the match by 30 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. He also again picked up eight wickets (and counting) in the second Test as the tourists are on the verge of completing a 2-0 whitewash. On the other hand, Sundar played the most balls in the first Test while playing at No. 3. Apart from 16 off 44 deliveries, the left-hander also lasted 92 balls for his 48 in the first innings of the second Test. The team management might consider promoting him in the batting order. Simon Harmer helps South Africa completely dominate India in the 2nd Test As mentioned, Simon Harmer’s fifer has put the Proteas in the driving seat against India. The tourists are in search of their first Test series win in India since the 1999/2000 series. At the time of writing, the hosts were 138/8, with Ravindra Jadeja (53) and Jasprit Bumrah (0) at the crease. Harmer has been the leading wicket-taker with six scalps. Notably, South Africa posted 489 in their first innings. In response, India were bundled out for 201. The visitors then declared their second innings for 260/5, setting a mammoth 459-run target for the Men in Blue. Team India are on the verge of losing their second Test at home in the last 13 months. They previously lost to New Zealand 0-3 in October 2024. Follow the 2025 IND vs SA 2nd Test live score and updates here.
