This 1961 Matchless G12 is a non-running example equipped with a 646cc OHV parallel-twin mated to a four-speed transmission. It is finished in black with chrome and maroon accents and features an Amal Monoblock carburetor, a contoured two-up seat, 19″ wire-spoke wheels, finned 7″ drum-brake hubs, and a chrome engine guard, grab rail, and dual exhaust system. This G12 was purchased by the seller circa 2015 and is now offered at no reserve with a clean West Virginia title in the seller’s name. The bike is finished in black and features a 4. 5-gallon fuel tank with chrome side panels, maroon stripes, winged “M” badging, and black rubber knee grips. The black double-cradle frame is fitted with a chrome engine guard and a center stand. The contoured two-up seat wears a black vinyl cover with white piping and is complemented by a chrome rear grab rail and folding passenger foot pegs. Wire-spoke 19″ wheels are mounted with Dunlop K81 Qualifier white-letter front and Dunlop Roadmaster TT100 rear tires. Suspension consists of an AMC Teledraulic fork as well as a pair of chrome shrouded Girling shocks mounted to the swingarm. Braking is provided by 7″ ribbed drums at both ends. A chrome handlebar equipped with cushioned barrel-style grips is secured by a horizontal riser clamp, and it fronts a Smiths 125-mph speedometer that is joined by a Lucas ammeter, a light switch, and an ignition switch inset atop the headlight bucket. The five-digit odometer indicates 19k miles. The 646cc OHV parallel-twin was rated at 35 horsepower when new, and it is equipped with an Amal Monobloc carburetor, a Lucas magneto ignition, a kick starter, and a chrome dual exhaust system with megaphone mufflers. A close-up photo that shows a broken cooling fin on the right side of the cylinder head can be viewed in the gallery. Though the bike is said to have been started periodically by the seller, it does not start or run at this time. Power is sent to the rear wheel through a non-unit-construction four-speed gearbox with right-side shifting as well as a drive chain. The bike is titled using a combination of engine number 61G12X5925, minus the first two digits (61), and frame number A79013, minus the final digit (3).
