MALIBU, Calif. (AP) — Quinn Denker scored 26 points and Brock Wisne added 16 as Northern Colorado defeated Pepperdine 88-81 in overtime on Saturday.
Denker also contributed eight rebounds and five assists for the Bears (3-0), while Wisne went 6 of 10 from the field and pulled down 10 rebounds. Zack Bloch added 16 points, shooting 6 of 12 overall and 4 for 8 from beyond the arc.
The Waves (2-2) were led by Styles Phipps, who posted 22 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals. Pepperdine also received 20 points and four steals from Aaron Clark. Javon Cooley finished with 13 points and two steals.
Northern Colorado took a 41-31 lead at halftime, thanks in large part to Denker’s 14 first-half points. Although Pepperdine outscored the Bears by 10 points in the second half, Denker still managed a team-high eight points after intermission.
The game was ultimately decided in overtime, where Northern Colorado secured the victory.
