Horizon Steel Frontiers Officially Confirmed at G-Star 2025
The long-rumored Horizon Steel Frontiers, the new MMO set in the Horizon universe, has now been officially confirmed during G-Star 2025 in South Korea. NCSoft is collaborating with Guerrilla Games to bring this exciting new MMO to life.

Horizon Steel Frontiers Gameplay: What We Know So Far
While many gameplay details are still vague, we do have some solid information about how Horizon Steel Frontiers will function. The MMO, which was previously rumored to be canceled, is very much alive and well. The game is set in a new area of the Horizon world known as the Deadlands, which resembles the American Southwest, evoking landscapes similar to New Mexico and Arizona.
Players will continue to battle colossal mechanized creatures, but this time, you won’t be fighting alone. As an MMO, Horizon Steel Frontiers will encourage players to team up and take on powerful machine beasts cooperatively. However, it won’t be all teamwork; tribal conflict will play a significant role, with different tribes fighting one another for precious resources.
Unlike Aloy, the protagonist of previous Horizon games, who primarily used ranged bow combat and occasional spear attacks, players in Horizon Steel Frontiers will have access to a formidable Greatsword, suggesting a much stronger focus on melee combat. This shift is an exciting development for fans who enjoy close-quarters combat.
The gameplay also appears to draw inspiration from other popular titles. For example, cooking will be an important mechanic, likely providing various buffs, as hinted at in the trailer—much like in the Monster Hunter series.
Additional cool mechanics include:
– Using the Pullcaster to grapple onto machines after damaging a part, allowing players to set traps for extra damage.
