Arizona Democrat Adelita Grijalva was sworn into the House on Wednesday after a record 50-day wait. Upon taking office, she vowed to immediately join efforts to disclose files related to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Prior to her September 23 election, Grijalva had expressed no special interest in the Epstein case. However, she became a key figure in a bipartisan effort to release Justice Department files connected to the disgraced financier. It became evident that Grijalva could provide the final necessary signature on a discharge petition, which would force a House vote on the matter.
