**Jimmy Kimmel’s Wife Cuts Ties with Trump-Voting Family: ‘I’m Angry All the Time. I Wish I Could Deprogram Myself’**
*New York Post | Nov. 8, 2025 | Anna Young*
Molly McNearney, the head writer and executive producer of *Jimmy Kimmel Live!*, recently opened up about the strain between her and her right-wing family members following last year’s presidential election. On the “We Can Do Hard Things” podcast, she revealed that she sent numerous emails pleading with her Trump-supporting relatives not to vote for the former president—and has since severed ties with many of them.
“I’ve sent many emails to my family, like right before the election, saying, ‘I’m begging you. Here’s the 10 reasons not to vote for this guy. Please don’t,’” McNearney shared. “And I either got ignored by 90% of them or got truly insane responses from a few.”
She expressed feeling deeply betrayed, explaining that their vote felt like a vote against her husband, Jimmy Kimmel, and their family as a whole. “I’m angry all the time. I wish I could deprogram myself,” she admitted during the podcast episode, which she attended alongside Kimmel.
