This 1949 Ford F-6 is a rugged and functional classic truck equipped with a dump bed, powered by a 239ci flathead V8 engine. It features a four-speed manual transmission paired with a two-speed rear axle, delivering reliable performance characteristic of this era.
Finished in a striking blue and white color scheme, the exterior is complemented by white 20″ steel wheels and a dually rear axle. Additional exterior features include a pintle hitch, frame-mounted storage box, blue side steps and fenders, turn signals, rear mud flaps, and dealer decals prominently displayed on the doors. The dump bed, painted blue with wooden sideboards, shows some dents and paint imperfections, adding to the truck’s authentic vintage character.
The truck was repainted in its current colors and retains a California “pink slip” issued in October 1987. It was acquired by the current selling dealer in 2025 after spending 38 years with the previous owner. Notably, the lever that holds the dump bed in place is frozen, and according to the seller, if the power take-off is disengaged, the bed will automatically lower.
The wheels are fitted with a mixed set of tires, all showing signs of dry rot; the inner left rear tire leaks and the brakes require servicing before safe driving. Close-up photos of the wheels are available in the gallery below for interested buyers.
Inside, the cab features a bench seat upholstered in black vinyl, which has a tear on the passenger side. The interior appointments include a body-color metal dashboard, a black vinyl headliner, a floor shifter, and an in-cab fuel tank. The passenger window reportedly only lowers partially, and the firewall, painted black, is shown in detail in the accompanying gallery.
The three-spoke steering wheel exhibits some cracking, and the instrument cluster includes an 80-mph speedometer along with gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and battery status. The five-digit odometer reads 67,000 miles, though total mileage is unknown. It’s noted that the speedometer was nonfunctional at the time when the driving video was recorded, available for viewing below.
Mechanically, the 239ci Flathead V8 has been recently serviced with an oil change and a replacement carburetor in preparation for sale. The electrical system was converted to 12 volts and fitted with an electric fuel pump by the previous owner. Please note, the choke cable is broken.
Power flows to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission, coupled with a three-speed auxiliary unit and a two-speed rear axle. The transmission oil has also been changed recently to ensure smoother operation.
