**Akshay Kumar and Anees Bazmee Reunite for a Reimagined Version of Sankranthiki Vasthunam**
After delivering blockbusters like *Welcome* and *Singh Is Kinng*, filmmaker Anees Bazmee and actor Akshay Kumar are joining forces once again. According to reliable sources, their next project is a reimagined version of the Venkatesh-led Telugu film *Sankranthiki Vasthunam*. Produced by Dil Raju, the new venture is touted to be an out-and-out comic entertainer.
A source shared exclusive details with Bollywood Hungama: “Anees and Akshay loved the plot of the lead character being stuck between his wife and ex-girlfriend, which is the central theme of *Sankranthiki Vasthunam*. However, the original film had a strong Telugu flavor. To make it more accessible for the Hindi audience, Anees Bazmee is reimagining the story while keeping the core plot intact.”
The source further added, “Anees is a master at crafting fresh screenplays inspired by established films. This version will not only be bigger than the original but also funnier. He plans to infuse the narrative with numerous gags that were absent in the original. Over his three-decade career, Bazmee has penned many love triangles in the comedy genre, and this project perfectly fits his signature style of situational comedy.”
Currently, the writing process is in full swing, with the team aiming to begin shooting the untitled film by February 2026. It’s important to note that the project is not a direct remake but a reimagined take on the original. According to the makers, “It will feature 60% fresh sequences and 40% original content to preserve the essence of the plot.”
