It is no secret that the current President of the United States is not particularly fond of the immigrant population in his country. Time and again, he has made it clear through his xenophobic comments and actions that he absolutely despises them, despite his own wife having immigrant roots and his administration containing multiple immigrant individuals.
Since becoming President for a second term this year, Donald Trump has been persistent in his efforts to reduce immigrant populations in the United States. With the help of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Trump has been conducting raids throughout the country to hunt down undocumented immigrants, or as he refers to them, “illegal aliens.”
Many of these individuals have lived in the United States for decades and are now being separated from their families due to Trump’s stringent immigration policies. On social media, numerous testimonies have surfaced from people who were questioned by ICE agents—or, worse, interrogated in violent ways.
Several videos show individuals being forcibly slammed to the ground, zip-tied by ICE agents, and then detained if they fail to prove their identity as American citizens. One such incident is currently gaining traction online, involving a young girl whose mother was treated in a hostile manner because she could not remember her Social Security number when asked.
In the video, an ICE agent slams the woman to the floor while her daughter screams and cries. According to the daughter’s account, her mother has since been detained at the Rockingham County Jail following the encounter.
Many who witnessed these harrowing scenes have spoken out against ICE’s actions. One person on X (formerly Twitter) wrote:
“Why did he lunge at a woman like that? And do that in front of a kid too? There is no justification for any of that. He could have left her outside of the car and told the kid to provide information. None of that was proper procedure—not like they were trained properly anyway. Every time we see these types of videos, it’s untrained thuggery going on.”
Others echoed similar sentiments, expressing outrage at the treatment of immigrants.
It is shocking to see how Trump abuses his authority as President of the United States. What will it take for him to be impeached for a third time? From what observers can tell, he has certainly done enough to warrant serious consideration.
