You don’t often see liberal media admitting positive things about President Donald Trump. But as our sister site Townhall reported, former NBC host Chuck Todd recently made a big, surprising admission about Trump during an interview on the *Can’t Be Censored* podcast hosted by Karman Wong and Travis Dhanraj.
Wong asked Todd, “Who is the best communicator of this generation?” Todd replied without hesitation: Donald Trump.
Why Trump? Todd explained, “He’s figured out how to communicate in this fragmented environment. Who else has?” He emphasized that Trump is effective in getting his message across.
Todd also reflected on Barack Obama’s communication style, noting that Obama was able to speak in a way that made progressives think he was a “revolutionary” while moderates saw him as a “pragmatist.” Todd called Obama the “best communicator the Democrats have had in the 21st century,” acknowledging the skill in his messaging. But when it came to overall effectiveness, he bluntly stated, “You gotta say that Trump’s been the more effective communicator of anyone.”
I have never regarded Todd as particularly sage, but this take is spot on — and you know it’s going to drive many on the left crazy.
Obama was a smooth operator. He said what people wanted to hear, enabling him to shape-shift his message for different audiences. It’s interesting that Todd admitted that.
But Trump’s power lies in his authenticity. Good, bad, blunt, raw — you know he’s saying exactly what he believes, without sugar-coating it to please anyone. He’s willing to fight for it and make things happen, as he did, for example, to secure the border.
That resonates with people. Warts and all, Trump is an authentic communicator.
It’s why he’s stealing away voters from the Democratic Party, including many who previously voted for Obama. In Trump, they see not just someone talking about the issues they care about, but someone who is putting in the work and taking action as well. That’s why he earned the popular vote and won the Electoral College in 2024.
If there’s a comparison to a prior generation, Trump might be a bit like Ronald Reagan in his ability to reach across the aisle with his appeal.
It’s also why he’s getting things done on the world stage. People know he means what he says. He’s shown he will take action — for example, by taking out Iranian nuclear facilities, with a little genius diversion thrown in.
Unlike Obama, Trump doesn’t make up “red lines” and then let people walk all over them. That matters to our friends, and to our enemies.
This is a big admission Todd is making. Implicit in his statement is that the current Democrats don’t have anyone who has taken on Obama’s mantle, much less someone who matches Trump’s communication style and effectiveness.
They had Joe Biden, who has struggled with cognitive decline. They have Kamala Harris, who is often inarticulate. They have California Governor Gavin Newsom, who comes across as an inauthentic car salesman.
What’s worse for Democrats is that Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio — two names already being talked about for 2028 — are also effective communicators.
Vance has a great sense of humor that connects with people, as we saw with his Halloween meme, and he’s about to reach across the aisle. Rubio has been busy bringing home deals and hostages.
Bottom line? Obama talked about hope and change. Trump is the hope and change.

**Editor’s Note:** The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than putting the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown over healthcare for illegal immigrants. They own this.
