The time has come for players of the original Path of Exile to once again confront the malevolent forces of the Breach. This week marks the launch of the Keepers of the Flame update, bringing back some familiar challenges along with new and exciting twists to keep things fresh. After all, it can’t be a true “sequel league” if it’s all exactly the same, right?
The central focus of this new update is the menace of the Breachlords and the players’ mission to assist the titular monastic Keepers in keeping the Breach out of the game’s world. Mechanically, this means players will gain access to the Genesis Tree, which grants “living augmentations fused into flesh that provide new abilities.” These enhancements can be further empowered using a special currency, adding a grim yet exciting layer of character progression.
This newfound power will certainly come in handy. Players are being challenged to face 40 new trials that offer exclusive rewards. Additionally, there are endgame-oriented Breach Hives that need to be destroyed, along with three new uber incarnation bosses to test your skills.
Alongside the Breach-related content, the update also introduces an asynchronous trade system and a host of quality-of-life improvements, making the overall experience smoother and more enjoyable.
