How to unlock safes in Battlefield 6: REDSEC

Tall, black steel safes are scattered around the Fort Lyndon map in Battlefield 6: REDSEC, and they hold some tantalizing goodies behind that big lock. Unlocking these safes is a simple matter—provided you or one of your teammates made an important choice before starting the match.

### How to Unlock Safes in Battlefield 6: REDSEC

To unlock a safe in Battlefield 6: REDSEC, you or someone on your team needs to be an **Engineer**. Once that’s set, use the **Repair Tool** on the safe lock for about five seconds. Fulfill both of these requirements, and the safe should pop open.

Inside, you’ll find a weapon or two, a grenade, and maybe some Superior Intel. While it’s not nearly as full as, say, a Weapons Cache mission gun locker, you don’t need to work nearly as hard to get at the loot inside a REDSEC safe.

### When to Open Safes

Because of the loot disparity, I’d only recommend opening safes during the early part of a match—particularly shortly after landing for the first time. The gear inside, though limited, is likely to be of better quality than what you’d find at your initial landing zone.

If **Weapons Cache** is one of your first available missions, I highly recommend doing that in addition to opening the safe. The volume of loot is much higher, and while the weapons I usually find are green rarity, upgrade kits are plentiful enough. The real prizes are the Strike Packages, RPGs, and other harder-to-come-by ordnance.

### Why Always Have an Engineer on Your Team

Being able to unlock safes is just one reason you should always have at least one Engineer on your team in BF6: REDSEC. Another vital reason is dealing with the tanks other teams will inevitably bring to bear.

Make sure your squad is prepared to handle both the safes and the heavy firepower to maximize your chances of success on the battlefield.
