Wizards of the Coast has recently released two exciting new sets for Dungeons & Dragons: the Starter Set and *Stranger Things: Welcome to the Hellfire Club*. I had the opportunity to review both during the latest episode of *Pop! Goes the Culture!*.
The **Starter Set** is designed to make D&D more accessible than ever before. It essentially transforms the game into a more conventional tabletop experience by lowering the barrier of entry. This is achieved through the inclusion of pre-made characters, cards for common spells and items, and multiple maps—everything needed to jump right into the adventure with ease.
On the other hand, *Stranger Things: Welcome to the Hellfire Club* takes a similar approach but with a fun, nostalgic twist. The set carries a strong 1980s theme, drawing inspiration from the beloved Netflix series. It features character sheets based on the personas played by the characters in the show and includes a map modeled after the world from their campaign.
Adding to the thrill, the set introduces new monsters like the **Demogorgon Dragon**, enhancing gameplay with unique challenges. All of this is wrapped up in a vintage 80s aesthetic, giving Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition a distinctive retro feel.
If you’re a fan of classic tabletop gaming or the *Stranger Things* universe, both sets offer a fantastic way to dive into the world of D&D with fresh, exciting twists.
