Dion Dawkins and the Buffalo Bills ended a two-game losing streak in Week 8 with a commanding 40-9 victory over the Carolina Panthers on the road. It was one of the most dominating performances by any team this season, showcasing why the Bills’ offensive line is regarded as one of the best in the NFL.
Running back James Cook had a career day, finishing with 216 yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, quarterback Josh Allen broke Cam Newton’s record by achieving 45 games with at least one passing and one rushing touchdown. This dominant display left the Panthers visibly frustrated, and those emotions boiled over after the game.
During the postgame handshakes, Dawkins and Panthers defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson engaged in a heated exchange. Speaking on a Bleacher Report podcast alongside Washington Commanders wide receiver Deebo Samuel, Dawkins shared his perspective on the incident:
“Dudes in this league are corny,” Dawkins said. “They are corny, bro. Dudes be corny, Deebo. If somebody says to you during the game ‘fight me after the game,’ you’re going to look at him and be like, this isn’t the WWE. This isn’t the UFC. What are you talking about—the game? It was 40-9, emotions are high. Why are you saying anything to me? All these tough guys that want to be tough.”
The Bills entered the game desperate for a bounce-back performance after back-to-back losses and delivered in a big way, controlling the contest from the opening whistle.
Looking ahead, a much tougher challenge awaits Dawkins and his teammates in Week 9 when Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs visit Buffalo. Both teams are competing for the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Historically, the Bills hold a 4-1 advantage over the Chiefs in regular-season matchups between Allen and Mahomes, but they have yet to secure a playoff win, with a 0-4 record.
Kickoff for this highly anticipated showdown is set for 4:25 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on CBS, with Jim Nantz, Tony Romo, and Tracy Wolfson calling the action.
