Christian Horner shares a selfie with former F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone on his 95th birthday

Former Red Bull boss Christian Horner took to his social media account to wish Bernie Ecclestone a happy birthday. Horner, using his official Instagram account, uploaded a selfie and extended his wishes to Ecclestone on his 95th birthday.

Horner and Ecclestone share a significant history in Formula 1, with Horner leading Red Bull and Ecclestone serving as the chief of Formula 1. Ecclestone is a legendary figure in the sport, having founded the Formula 1 Group and acting as its CEO from 1987 to 2017. On Tuesday, Ecclestone turned 95, and Horner seized the opportunity to celebrate the milestone.

Posting on the Meta-owned platform, Horner wrote:
“Happy 95th Birthday! @bernieecclestoneofficial”

Here’s a screenshot of Christian Horner’s birthday wish for Bernie Ecclestone.

Just like Ecclestone, Horner is currently away from Formula 1. The British team principal’s final race in charge of Red Bull was the 2025 British Grand Prix, after which he was sacked by the Austrian outfit. Red Bull promptly replaced Horner with Laurent Mekies, marking the end of a 20-year partnership.

During his tenure, Horner was instrumental in Red Bull’s success, helping the team secure six Constructors’ Championships alongside eight Drivers’ titles.

### Christian Horner Approached Haas Over F1 Role

Christian Horner reportedly approached Haas F1 regarding a possible role within the team. According to reports, Horner made inquiries to one of Haas’s team members. However, as per Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu, discussions did not progress beyond an initial exploratory talk.

Speaking ahead of the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix, Komatsu stated:
“Yeah, it is true that he approached us. Then one of our guys had an exploratory talk. And that’s it. Nothing has gone any further. It is finished. I’ve got nothing more to say. Like I said, you write whatever you want. I’m not fuelling that story.”

Komatsu took over as Haas team principal in 2024, replacing Guenther Steiner. Given the team’s improved performance under Komatsu’s leadership, it is understandable why they chose to maintain stability rather than pursue a new direction.

### Links to Aston Martin and Ferrari

Besides Haas, Christian Horner’s name has also been linked with Aston Martin. When asked about this speculation, Andy Cowell, Aston Martin’s current team principal, commented:
“I think Christian’s record speaks for itself. He’s a great competitor. I guess it’s down to Christian to work out what he wants to do. I think we’ve got a strong set-up and we’re marching forward with that.”

Interestingly, Horner was also rumored to be linked with Ferrari. However, there have been no concrete reports confirming any formal talks between Horner and the Italian outfit.

Christian Horner’s future in Formula 1 remains a topic of interest, but for now, his focus appears to be elsewhere as he explores new opportunities beyond Red Bull.
