“I love the cleaning stuff there”: Are Home Depot cleaning supplies cheaper than Dollar Tree?

A woman recently discovered that Home Depot sells cleaning supplies for less than the discount retailer Dollar Tree, prompting her to check out the hardware store’s deals.

In a TikTok video that has garnered over 12,000 views, user Lashauna (@lashaunaspeaks) shares her experience visiting Home Depot after hearing about the surprisingly low prices on cleaning products. She showcases several name-brand items, including Comet bleach and Arm & Hammer baking soda, all priced at just $1.

Deciding to make a purchase, Lashauna buys baking soda for her refrigerator. “Okay, it definitely is cheaper than Dollar Tree since it wants to be $1.25, $1.50, $2,” she remarks as she leaves the store.

This discovery comes amid some backlash against Dollar Tree, which earlier this year announced a price increase, raising its minimum price from $1.25 to $1.50. The retailer had previously raised prices from $1 to $1.25 in 2021. Since these changes, many customers have been on the lookout for alternative retailers offering better deals.

**Viewers React to the Deal**

The TikTok comment section is filled with people sharing their own experiences shopping for cleaning supplies at hardware stores. One viewer writes, “I get all my cleaning supplies from Home Depot.” Another adds, “I love the cleaning stuff there; that’s where I first found the Scrub Daddy’s and Pink Stuff.”

Others mention alternative stores with competitive prices on cleaning products. Money-saving communities like the r/Frugal subreddit have long praised hardware stores such as Home Depot and Lowe’s for offering bulk cleaning supplies at significantly lower prices compared to discount retailers and home goods stores.

Comments include recommendations like:

– “Lowe’s even less than that. Just found out yesterday.”
– “ROSSES!”
– “WALMART TOO, don’t go to Target.”
– “And wait until y’all find out about Office Depot cleaning supplies. Cheaper and lots of deals.”

The Daily Dot reached out to Lashauna for further comments on her discovery.

This growing awareness of hardware stores as affordable sources for cleaning supplies could help consumers save money in today’s changing retail landscape.
