**Joan M. Thibodeau**

FALMOUTH – Joan M. Thibodeau, 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025, at Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth.

Joan was born on Sept. 22, 1928, in Beacon, N.Y., to George Palmer Sadler and Mercedes Gillen Sadler. She grew up as the only daughter among three brothers: George “Junie,” Robert “Bobby,” and John “Jackie.” Her family relocated from New York to Maine, where she eventually graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn.

On July 19, 1948, Joan married her husband, the late Henry “Tibby” Thibodeau. They were married for 66 years until his passing in March 2015. Together, they raised two children, Paul and Patrice, who filled their lives with love and laughter and grew to be two of their very best friends.

Joan and Henry spent most of their life in the Lewiston-Auburn area, building a beautiful life surrounded by friends and family they cherished deeply.

She will be remembered for her genuine kindness, unforgettable sense of humor, and the unconditional love she gave to everyone around her.

Joan is survived by her son, Paul Michael Thibodeau of Westbrook; her grandchildren Timothy Haggerty of Concord, N.H., Daniel Haggerty and his wife Kristen of Pembroke, N.H., and Kathleen Thibodeau and her husband Benjamin Lindsay of Gorham; as well as her great-grandchildren Emma and Bennett Haggerty of Pembroke, N.H. She is also survived by a wealth of extended family and friends who loved her dearly.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Sedgewood Commons for the kindness, care, and laughter they shared with Joan throughout her time there.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life honoring Joan on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 12 p.m. at The Fortin & Pinette Group, 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway, Lewiston. Burial will be private at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations in Joan’s memory to The Prion Alliance, in honor of her daughter Patrice, whom the family sadly lost to Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) in 2016.
