Jensen Huang throws shade at ‘policy makers’ over NVIDIA (NVDA) exit from China

According to NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, the company is currently out of the Chinese AI market—not by choice, but due to external circumstances.

China represents one of the most booming and profitable markets globally. However, ongoing trade war policies between the US and China, largely driven by former President Trump’s efforts to bring manufacturing back to the United States, have placed companies like NVIDIA in a challenging position.

For NVIDIA, navigating this complex situation meant ending its existing business operations in China. Huang expressed his frustrations regarding NVIDIA’s status in China during Citadel Securities’ Future of Global Markets 2025 conference, as reported by Wccftech.

At the conference, Huang revealed that the political turmoil has forced NVIDIA to forgo a massive overseas opportunity. The company has been heavily impacted by the escalating trade war between the US and China.

In April 2025, the US government imposed new export restrictions on NVIDIA’s H100 AI chips sold to China, resulting in an estimated loss of $5.5 billion for the company. Despite this setback, NVIDIA attempted to salvage the situation. Several Chinese customers were able to obtain licenses to purchase its chips.

Unfortunately, the Chinese government soon issued guidance advising domestic companies against buying NVIDIA’s AI chips. This move effectively halted NVIDIA’s business dealings in China for the foreseeable future.

As a result, NVIDIA finds itself sidelined in one of the world’s most promising AI markets, caught between geopolitical tensions beyond its control.
