200-1 shot Powerful Glory becomes most unlikely winner in elite horse racing in Britain

Powerful Glory Stuns at 200-1 Odds to Win Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot

ASCOT, England (AP) — In a remarkable upset at British horse racing’s elite level, Powerful Glory emerged as the most unlikely winner on Saturday. The 3-year-old colt, expertly ridden by jockey Jamie Spencer and trained by Richard Fahey, captured the Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot with staggering odds of 200-1.

This astonishing victory made Powerful Glory the longest-priced winner in Group One races in Britain, according to the Press Association.

During the race, Powerful Glory overcame a significant deficit to overtake the favorite, Lazzat, who entered the contest at odds of 2-1. Quinault, another long shot at 66-1, secured third place.

The Champions Sprint Stakes was among the highlight events on British Champions Day, the final day of the flat racing season and the richest race day in Britain.
