Jalen Brunson had just won another game at Stevenson in Illinois—a small but meaningful milestone in a stellar high school career that would eventually launch the point guard into international acclaim.
However, on this particular night, his father was wholly unimpressed. The opponent was underwhelming, and as Rick Brunson described in an interview with The Post, “He was playing against five guys that look like you.”
Rick recalled, “Jalen came out bulls-ting, f-king around. He didn’t play hard. He didn’t compete.”
The punishment, as often doled out by Rick, was more basketball.
